FAQs

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind characterized by focused attention, deep relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. The state of hypnosis is often associated with changes in brainwave activity, specifically an increase in alpha and theta brainwaves. In this state, while individuals are still awake and aware, the conscious mind is relaxed, allowing access to the subconscious mind. We naturally experience this state multiple times throughout the day. Each time, just before we fall asleep and right after we wake up, we experience this state. Interestingly, in almost all cultures, prayers are conducted during these periods of the day!

While both meditation and hypnosis involve altered states of awareness, these practices are distinct in terms of their procedures and purposes. Meditation is generally self-directed. It has been practiced for thousands of years for spiritual awakening and as a means to connect to higher consciousness. Hypnosis is typically conducted with the assistance of a trained professional who guides individuals into an altered state of mind, aiming for specific purposes such as self-improvement, personal development, and addressing job or relationship issues. Nevertheless, hypnosis can also be employed to delve into one’s deeper resources, uncovering true purpose, and expanding consciousness.

To comprehend this, allow me to first introduce you to the Subconscious mind and subconscious behavior. Approximately, 90% of our mind power belongs to the Subconscious mind. Which carries all the past experiences and learned associations based on those experiences. These associations drive our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions. It is almost similar to a software program that operates a computer. Alternatively, you can view it as a ‘life-script,’ dictating your unconscious actions and reactions, preferences, and experiences of comfort or fear. Even if your conscious mind logically comprehends the necessity or benefits of a transformation, it lacks the capacity to bring about the change, as it only holds 10% of your total mind power. Cultivating new behaviors and emotions, or, in other words, deviating from your life-script, often induces fear and discomfort. Owing to that fear and discomfort, we inadvertently resist the change, reverting to familiar patterns that align with our life-script.

Hypnotherapy empowers individuals to take control of their lives, enabling them to consciously select the responses and behaviors they wish to develop, rather than remaining confined within the constraints of their limited life-script. Hypnotherapy employs Hypnosis and Therapeutic Imagery as tools to unlock the gateway to the subconscious mind. It involves reprogramming old, non-serving beliefs and behaviors, crafting a new, healthier life-script, and fostering profound and enduring positive changes. Since 1958, the American Psychological Association (APA) and American Medical Association (AMA) have acknowledged hypnotherapy as a valid procedure, and since 1995, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have endorsed it as a recommended treatment for chronic pain.

Each person experiences Hypnosis in their own unique way. Most clients describe it as a profound sense of physical and mental relaxation that is pleasant and comforting. Some individuals may experience physical sensations like lightness, heaviness, or tingling, others may experience heightened awareness. Some people may experience a deeper state and emotional release while others may experience a light trance. It’s important to note that there is no right or wrong way to feel during hypnosis, and the effectiveness remains consistent regardless of the individual’s unique experience.

Yes! Anyone can experience hypnosis if they are willing to. Consider those moments when you’ve “zoned out” while driving and can’t recall parts of the journey or when you’ve laughed or cried while watching a movie. These everyday occurrences are examples of environmental hypnosis. It is a natural state of consciousness, that we all encounter in our daily lives.

Absolutely not! It is a common misconception that during hypnosis, individuals lose control or reveal embarrassing information against their will. In truth, hypnosis is a collaborative process, and you cannot be compelled to do anything that contradicts your moral, or ethical values, or personal boundaries. Hypnosis empowers you by providing ultimate control over your life, enabling an inward focus to discover and utilize internal resources. The self-hypnosis tools offered to clients serve as valuable resources for managing challenging situations in the future, allowing them to gain greater control over both physical and psychological responses.

It is challenging for any hypnotherapist to tell the exact number of sessions required. It depends on a number of aspects such as the client’s goals and their commitment to positive change. Clients will get a sense of how long they need to continue therapy as the sessions proceed. My objective is to offer each client an efficient and personalized process. In most cases, clients start seeing results in 2 to 3 sessions, and for a more profound and lasting transformation, I often recommend considering a series of 3 to 6 sessions. Many clients initially focus on a specific issue and subsequently choose to return to address additional concerns.
